We support entirely the position expressed by the International Federation of Journalists in which the UBJ is a collective member, namely: the UN Security Council should take actions immediately to stop the purposeful and systematic attacks of Israel on media and journalists and those who are responsible for this to assume their responsibility.

At the UBJ, we are deeply shocked and outraged by the series of attacksof Israel on local, regional and world media offices in Gaza.Israeli army has already destroyed a third high-rise building with such offices in just a few days.In addition, this provocative attack took place on the eve of a meeting of the UN Security Council which has been convened today and which should examine the recent escalation,disturbing the whole world,in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in which there are already so many innocent victims…

We adopt what is happening as a gross violation of the international law and a violation of basic rights and the security of the journalists and media in conflict zones – rights whose inviolability is the condition for the world community to receive authentic and reliable information about such sharp clashes.

The brutal Israeli attacks on media agencies, which we are witnessing, cannot be interpreted in no other way than an attempt to shut the mouth of the informants, an attempt to prevent the world from learning the truth about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

We strongly condemn these Israeli actions, which come as a continuation of many previous ones when the Israeli authorities repressed both Palestinian and Israeli journalists. We confirm our decisive solidarity,expressed many times,with the colleagues who have been the subject of such attacks.

Mankind must stop these encroachments!
